Through a series of games, activities, group discussions, icebreakers and trust-building exercises, participants learn how to break down the walls of separation and create new levels of respect and communication within themselves to share with their peers and families. www.challengeday.org

Empowerment Zone

Empowerment Zone is a weekly series of lunchtime sessions that create a safe atmosphere where students can interact with trained adult volunteers. A topic of the day is presented by an adult leader and the teens interactively ask questions, share their own experiences and encourage each other in an accepting environment. Students agree to hold anything that is said during a lunch session as confidential and commit to respecting one another without judgment during the session and afterwards. The intentions of EZone are to:
- Expand school programs that empower students to reach their full potential amid the challenges teens face today.
- Support our teens with a full partnership between teachers, staff and students in the school, and caring adults from the community.
- Extend and expand on what comes from the Challenge Day workshops held each year at the school.
- Empower teens to get what they want out of their high school years, to do what they know is right, and achieve success as they define success for themselves.
